- Donald "Taps" Gallagher, of Clarendon Hills, is an attorney who wrote the book, "Stolen Glory," about the 1972 Olympic Men's Basketball Gold Medal Game between the United States and the Soviet Union in Munich, Germany. In the book, Gallagher interviews players, coaches and announcers recounting the controversial ending to the game, eventually won by the Soviet Union, 51-50.

Xtreme BUGS @ Brookfield Zoo

- Xtreme BUGS, the interactive summer exhibit at the Brookfield Zoo, 8400 31st St. in Brookfield, will open to the public on Saturday, May 19, 2012. The exhibit features giant animatronic insects, as well real bugs--from hissing cockroaches to the poisonous centipede and Chilean tarantula. The exhibit will run through September 7. The roughly two dozen oversized, animatronic insects are highlighed by the 16-foot-high by 33-foot-long Japanese hornet, on display in the zoo's Roosevelt Fountain. In Harry's Big Adventure: My Bug World! guests can view living critters.
